The front cover of this Hungarian special edition features a highly detailed, full-color portrait of Alfred E. Neuman. He sports his trademark gap-tooth grin, freckled cheeks, and mismatched ears. In a surreal visual gag, the top of his head is sliced open and hinged backward, revealing a chaotic cluster of DC Comics superheroes bursting from his mind. Characters like Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, and Harley Quinn are tangled together in comic desperation. The interior contents page confirms the cover art is by Dan Panosian, and lists a robust 64 pages of content guest-edited by comic writer Chip Zdarsky. Staying true to the original format, the back page features a localized MAD Fold-in, listed as "MAD-hajtogatós".
Collector’s Note: This issue is a monumental find for collectors of international MAD ephemera. It marks the brand's return to the Hungarian market after an astonishing 25-year absence; the previous Hungarian iteration ceased publication with its 30th issue in 2001. The issue was published under license by Kingpin kiadó, a publisher primarily known for translating standard Marvel and DC superhero trades for the Hungarian market. Because of this, it is largely suspected to be a rare "one-shot" special rather than the revival of a monthly magazine. A pristine, Mint-condition copy will feature the printed cover price of 2990 Ft in the upper left corner.
