This is a cool piece of pre-MAD Magazine memorabilia. Produced in the 1930's or 1940's by the Diamond Match Company, this item is a book of matches from Ralphs's Buffet, a restaurant in Prescott, Arizona. But, the cool thing about this book of matches is that it features an early, pre-MAD image of MAD Magazine's Alfred E. Neuman on the back. This book of matches has been used, and about half of the matches are missing. But, who really cares about how many matches are still in the book? The image of Alfred is beautiful, and this is a really cool (and really rare) piece of pre-MAD memorabilia.
