The first known Alfred E. Neuman cover appearance was in 1890 for Puck's Library: Kids.
The art is by one of the original Alfred artists and the first artist to create the look for the late 19th century Alfred image Frederick Opper. This is an image that would be later used from everything from Atmore Pies to Antikamnia. While Alfred predates 1890 by 100 years, this is the first and most definitive modern image and cover appearance. Enjoy.
