Two months after co-writers David Shayne and Joe Raiola facetiously proposed Fiona Apple as a replacement co-host for Kathie Lee Gifford (MAD #396, August '00), Mort Drucker illustrated her - alongside fellow female pop sensations Tori Amos and Jewel - for this portion of the Russ Cooper-written "More Contractual Obligations We'd Like To See Some Celebrities Agree To" (MAD #400, December '00).

"Also available: Sour McLachlan and Alanis Smore'sette!" Fiona Apple factored into the first of four gags for "New 'Rock & Rap Inspired' Ben & Jerry's Flavours," which ran on the back cover of MAD #401 (January '01). Illustrated by Scott Bricher and written by Arie Kaplan, it's the second-last "original-content" MAD cover prior to the arrival of the colour-and-ads era two issues later.

MAD writer (and former MTV employee) Desmond Devlin had a field day with Fiona Apple's lengthy album titles and seemingly-never-ending awards-show speeches in this segment from "MAD Celebrates 25 Years of MTV." Masterfully illustrated by Drew Friedman, it originally ran in MAD #469 (September '06).
