Actress Beth Howland, best-remembered as ditzy, klutzy waitress Vera in the CBS sitcom Alice, has passed away at the age of 74. She actually died December 2015 but the confirmation of her death didn't occur until mid of 2016, as per her wishes. Angelo Torres and Lou Silverstone sent up the show as "Alas" in MAD #198 (April '78).
