In addition to his appearance on Jack Rickard's cover for MAD #196 (January '78), Chewbacca was also caricatured by Harry North for the Dick DeBartolo-Larry Siegel "Star Roars" interior parody.

MAD and Jack Rickard might have been on to something here, because just a year and a half after MAD #203 (December '78) hit newsstands, Chewbacca, C-3P0 and R2D2 were all singing and dancing on an episode of The Muppet Show. Coincidence? Written by Frank Jacobs, the interior feature "The Force and I" marked the first time Chewbacca (and several other Star Wars characters) were caricatured by Mort Drucker.

This depiction of Alfred as Chewbacca (and several other Star Wars characters) was one of only two cover assignments for artist Vincent di Fate, who also did the "Alfred-as-the-Man-in-the-Moon" Apollo 13 tie-in cover for MAD #341 (December '95).

And here's a more modern depiction of Chewbacca, aka. "Chewbacco," by Tom Richmond in the David Richards-penned parody "Star Bores: The Snores Awaken," which of course appears in the latest issue of MAD (#539, June '16).
