Joe BlevinsSaturday, February 11th, 2017 at 9:26am

While I'm at it, here's another celeb I've never been able to ID. From 1983, this is a group of 'Tonight Show' guest hosts. There's Joan Rivers, Bill Cosby, David Letterman, George Carlin, Steve Martin, [???], and David Brenner. Any idea who [???] is?

Tommy Stevens George Hamilton?
Jonathan Mackewich Well, only other guest hosts that year were Gary Shandling and Barbara Mandrell. Doesnt look like either of them to me lol. Thing is though, the guy does look incredibly familiar, I just can't place him.
Joe Blevins David Steinberg doing a Slim Jim commercial?
Bob Rush Alan King, the comedian is the only one I can think of. This cartoon shows a little too much hair, but the cigar is a clue. (I can't imagine David Brenner ever smoked, but it does look like him).
Timothy Guetling Steve Martin, arrow in head.
Steven Ackerman This was one of the last articles Jack Rickard drew for Mad.
Raj Kaup There's an article from '76-'77 something like "Celebrity Roasts for Ordinary People" that has a bevy of comedians and celebs I can't ID. (can't find the article....)
Garry Liening Dick Cavity maybe?
Garry Liening Cavitt.
Bobby Allen Looks like David Copperfield
Linda Cleary Soupy Sales? Rich Little?
Jim Morrison Looks a bit like Jamie Farr.
Marie Scavone-Zavoli Is it David Steinberg?
Lorri Cook Yup, David Steinberg.
Debbie Axelson Yes, it is David Steinberg.
Marcia McIntyre Risner May be Copperfield
Lorri Cook Wrong timeframe for Copperfield. And, these are all comedians.
Pete Pearlman David Steinberg?
Eytan Wronker David Steinberg
Pete Pearlman These people weren't just popular comedians at that time, they were frequent GUEST hosts for Carson.
Eytan Wronker David Steinberg appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson more than 130 times (second only to Bob Hope in number of appearances) and served as guest host 12 times, the youngest person ever to guest-host. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Steinberg
Jay Ashmore It is not a very good rendition, but, yes, Steinberg.

Steven Ackerman Got this issue. I don't remember the film Fantastic Beasts. Also, see that John paid tribute to two of the recently departed artists. Next issue he has to do Gerry Gersten.

Joe BlevinsSaturday, February 11th, 2017 at 9:17am

A mid-1970s subscription ad drawn by Harry North. I can identify most of these people with the exception of the lady between Kojak and the Fonz. And is the wild-haired guy up front meant to be Al Pacino?

Bob Rush Is she supposed to be Barbra Streisand? And, yes, that seems to be Al Pacino.
Timothy Guetling Shelley Duvall?
Timothy Guetling Gene Wilder.
Mark Brown Al Pacino by Mr.Spock
Steven Ackerman This was in 234. I like the guy holding a dollar, which is exactly how much this cost back then. Also, when you could buy the damn thing at a newsstand.
Marcia McIntyre Risner Twiggy?
Theresa Oberuc Dustin Hoffman???
Craig Held That's Cher between Kojak & Fonzie.
Kelvin Cherry Dustin Hoffman
Michael Rosy Ryan Loraine Newman (Saturday Night Live )
Dave Green Gene Wilder
Paul Larson fay dunaway?
Harold Ball Shelly Duvall?
Thomas Mccluskey Yeah I remember this, I have it somewhere, I'm sure. Was always impressed by classic Mad artwork.
Joe Blevins Just for comparison.
Scott Murphy Shelly Duval
Chris Randolph She's not at all well these days sadly.
Kevin Toppah Looks like Laraine Newman to me.
Robert Nickerson Patty Hearst
David Robinson Please note that, when we discussed this in the past, someone asked Harry North who 'Shelly Duvall' was meant to be, and even Harry couldn't remember :D
