Norman Mingo substituted Alfred for Burt Ward in one of MAD's earliest front-cover pop-culture tie-ins and, half a century later, one of its most beloved cover images. And in the interior of MAD #105 (September '66), artist Mort Drucker and writer Lou Silverstone exposed the seamy underbelly of Burt Ward's role as Robin on the classic-but-campy '60s Batman series, in the beloved MAD spoof "Bats-Man."

Burt Ward as "Reuben" and Adam West as "Batsman" made a cameo appearance in the splash panel of MAD's parody of The Greatest American Hero. Concocted by "Bats-Man" creative team Lou Silverstone and Mort Drucker, "The Greatest American Zero" originally ran in MAD #232 (July '82).
